Piloting a Mosquito

Visited the NZ Airforce museum... fabulous place, and even more excellent as it's free! Took a guided tour from an ex-airforce chap to the non-public hangars where they are currently restoring a range of aircraft they don't have on display yet. They restore to historical accuracy - not to flyable condition, so they reuse and refurbish aircraft parts to keep the aircraft in their original condition as much as possible.

Current projects include a Curtis Kittyhawk and Catalina. Have an interesting collection including a Canberra that saw service in Phan Rang, Vampires and Skyhawk - the last of the NZ Airforce combat wing before it was disbanded in 2003. Best of all they had a simulator sett up for a deHaviland Mosquito (one of my favourites) - only crashed once or twice (OK, I'm not sure the wisdom of attacking a battleship with a single plane armed only with cannon!!)
