Arrived back in Lima... it's 10 years since I was here last time, though now I'm here with my lovely wife on our second wedding anniversary! Staying in the Miraflores part of the city, and wow, how much the city has changed over the past 10 years. Much more modern and affluent.
Enjoyed good food after communist rations in Cuba, walks in the park by the sea cliffs and just blending in as more part of the city as opposed to being a stand out tourist in Cuba. Ceviche, similar to Ika Mata (for those who know!) is marinated raw fish which is gorgeous, and perfect for those warm summer days lunches (lunch is the main meal of the day in Peru). Oh yes, and the best part - it doesn't rain... ever (though it did rain last year apparently, enough to leave puddles on the ground and the city came to a standstill).
We were invited to the Hostel owner's daughter's birthday, who was visiting from California, and looking for some gringo support at the party, all made for an interesting evening of rum and cokes with aunties, uncles and family friends.
On to Arequipa next... More pics here!
