Arrived in Osaka, and yes, we're in Japan. I can confirm that Japan is indeed, very Japanese. Very, very little English spoken or written anywhere, all kanji characters which makes travelling here not the easiest, even though transport is excellent and its just about the safest place on the planet. Staying in a budget business hotel, back to the tiny room, rice-straw mat, futon and the communal showering/bath experience... yes, communal showers where we all sit on small stools with showers and buckets, after which you can choose to lounge in the communal bath tub. Sunday visited Osaka castle, outside the station young rock bands gather and play their stuff for free, some of it pretty decent.
Spent a few days visiting the streets and around, watching more pathetic attempts at football by England, visiting the castle and gardens and eating some Japanese food... lots of noodles and rice.
More pics of Osaka here!
